Donation in front of Christmas tree

OXFORD, MASSACHUSETTS — bankHometown’s 270 Grove Street branch staff recently surprised five area non-profit organizations with charitable donations totaling $10,000. Dubbed the “Giveaway Gang” and led by Grove St. office Branch Officer Joel Laureano, the staff visited five area non-profits over five weeks and presented checks in the amount of $2,000 to each.

Branch staff selected four of the recipient organizations from among those who provide critical and valuable services to residents in the communities surrounding the new branch. The bank then allowed its followers on Facebook to select the fifth recipient.

“The residents and businesses in the Grove St. area of Worcester have warmly welcomed our branch to the neighborhood and have made our first few months such a success,” said Laureano. “We wanted to give back to the communities we serve in a big way by helping these organizations who exist to help others. And we had a lot of fun surprising them!” he said.

bankHometown provided the donations to Why Me & Sherry’s House, Veterans Inc., CASA Project Worcester County, Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc., and Go Hard or Stay Home.
